Hannah McCowan Scott

Born:  23 July 1908 - Montgomery County, Texas
Died:  7 February 2002 - Palestine Regional Medical Center - Palestine, Anderson, Texas
Father:  Peter McCowan
Mother:  Caldonia Simmons
Spouse:  Richard Scott - December 1933

Mrs. Hannah McCowan Scott was born July 23 1908 in Montgomery County to Peter and Caldonia Simmons McCowan.  She attended school in Willis, Texas.  On February 7, 2002 she passed away peacefully at Palestine Regional Medical center.
At an early age, Mrs. Scott joined Old Town Holiness Church.  She later joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board, the mission board, the deaconess board and sang in the choir.  She was actively involved until her health declined.
Mrs. Scott was also affiliated with the Eastern Star.
She was united in marriage with Mr. Richard Scott in December, 1933.  To this union three children were born, Dorothy, Richard, Jr., and Annie.
Those who preceded her in death were her parents; sisters, Pauline Miller, Callie J. Martin, Mattie Scott and Mary McCowan; her husband, Richard E. Scott Sr. in 1992
Her precious memories will be cherished by daughters, Dorothy Taylor of Palestine, Annie Scott of Houston; son, Richard Scottk, Jr. of Los Angeles, California; sisters, Laura Smith of Palestine, and Lydia Decluette of Dallas; grandchildren, Frederick Scott, Richard Scott and Ellen Scott, all of Los Angeles, California, Bridget and Beverly Taylor, both of Palestine, and Darrell Scott of Houston; great-grandchildren,  Devi Nichole, Shaunta and Artega Hagin, all of Palestine, and a host of other relatives and friends.
